I’ve seen these guys before, in Brussels I guess it’s about a year ago, and overall they kind of convinced me back then. That wasn’t quite the same yesterday. I did enjoy some of their songs, but the singer’s voice really bugged me a lot. After their set ended I didn’t really feel that I absolutely need to see these guys again. But if they were playing with a band I like, I wouldn’t necessarily turn my back on them.
The Matches
I didn’t know these guys at all and didn’t bother to check ‘em out, which I usually do. Did I have a bad feeling about this band? Maybe I did, and if that’s so, the feeling was completely right. The played some kind of R’n R influenced pop punk thingy. That’s not my style, but maybe I’d have something nice to say if they really mastered what they were doing. It didn’t seem that way, it was a bit(?) of a mess. But the crowd (a lot of very young people in there) did seem to enjoy it. But the fact that the singer asked us if we wanted to buy a record might just mean that the sales weren’t going as they had expected? If these guys are playing with a band I really like, I’d skip
MXPX
I liked this band quite a lot some years ago, and I had never seen them up ‘til now, that was actually the reason why I decided to go to this show, some months ago. My taste in music has evolved during these last few years, because of that, I don’t know any of their recent songs (nothing after “At the Show” apart from the single “Responsibility”) And did didn’t really play many old ones, for some strange reason they played “Punk rawk show” as their last encore, seemed a little bit strange to me… If they had played more old songs, I might have gotten a little nostalgic and I would have enjoyed this show a lot better, but they didn’t so it was kind of boring, just another name to scratch from the list of bands I haven’t seen yet.
